WhatsApp pricing

WhatsApp messages are billed per message, and the price depends on where the message is going and what kind of message it is. Wabery passes those charges through at cost. We do not add a margin, and the table below is the same rate card your wallet is billed from.

Service-message pricing changes October 1, 2026

Meta has announced that normal business replies and utility templates inside the 24-hour customer service window will become billable per delivered message on October 1, 2026. The final October rate card is due by September 1. Wabery will update this page and pass the new Meta fee through at cost, with no markup. Read the plain-English announcement.

What you are charged

Every message is billed at the carrier rate for the destination country, plus a flat $0.005 platform fee per message. That fee applies in both directions, so receiving a message costs $0.005 and nothing else.

The category is set on the template itself when you submit it for approval, so a given template always bills at the same category.

Current pricing through September 30, 2026

When a customer messages you, a 24-hour window opens. Anything you send back in that window as a free-form reply is a service message at $0.005, regardless of destination. Utility templates can also avoid the Meta fee in that window; marketing and authentication templates continue to use their category and destination rate. This changes on October 1, when Meta starts charging for service messages and in-window utility templates. The wallet returns any difference when the carrier reports the final price.

Why four decimal places

Most rates are fractions of a cent. Rounding them to cents would mean charging you more or less than we were charged, so the wallet tracks every micro-dollar and the table shows enough precision to make each rate exact.

How your balance is charged

1. Before sending, we reserve the estimated cost from your balance using the rates above. If your balance cannot cover it, the send is refused rather than half-completed.
2. On delivery, the reservation is settled.
3. Once the carrier reports the final price, the charge is corrected to that exact figure and the difference appears in your wallet history as an adjustment. If a message ended up cheaper than estimated, you get the difference back.

If a message fails, the send reservation is returned. The carrier can apply a small failed-message processing fee after accepting a send; when it does, the wallet records that reported fee instead of charging the original estimate.

Rate changes

These rates are set by WhatsApp and change periodically, most often at the start of a month. We regenerate this page and the billing rate card from the same published price list, so the documented estimate cannot drift from the estimate used by the wallet. The carrier-reported price remains the final amount billed, including any applicable volume discount.
